In the last few months, Lightroom Classic. At the very least, Windows Phone - which did have some very good points, especially the ones manufactured by Nokia which had excellent cameras, great screens and were nigh indestructible - would have succeeded. Another month brings another Adobe app now fully compatible with Apple’s M1 Macs, with Premiere Pro now updated to work on the new machines. And for that you should be grateful, because otherwise the massive computing shift from Windows - which literally had 97% of the market - to alternative platforms like iOS would have never happened. Never forget: the market isn't filled with people like you. M1 chips being available isn't going to change their behavior. I just got a new 2020 M1 MacBook Air (1 TB/16 GB RAM), loaded up Lightroom Classic 10, and tried to import 26000 files from a local folder. I've used Lightroom for a long time, and importing thousands of files used to take maybe a few minutes at the most (on an old 2013 MacBook Pro). You still have people using their Macs from 2012 or 2014, are very proud of that fact, and state that such was a major reason why they chose Mac over Windows in the first place. Lightroom Classic on M1 MacBook Air is glacial. The company is claiming big leaps in performance. so the hundreds of millions of people with Intel Macs are going to go out and buy M1 Macs in 2 years? While you may wish to believe this, the reality is that 90% of the population isn't going to stop using good tech that meets their needs just because something better is immediately available. Adobe has launched native versions of Lightroom Classic, InDesign, and Illustrator for Apple’s M1 Macs. My guess is when Intel has iMacs and Mac Pros on Apple Silicon, it will be a year or two after that, at the most.Īll right. I doubt they will do that anytime soon - subscription income is good, easy money.Īdobe at some point will look at metrics data and see that the amount of Intel-Mac users on subscription does not cover the costs of maintaining x86 support. If LR crashes without giving you any 'permission' notice, it is more likely that you have a Zii. Many of us Intel Mac users still have years to go before we upgrade our systems. At this point, Zii patches from 6.0.5 to 6.0.8 are known to work with LR 10.1, and 6.0.5 is known to work specifically on M1, so if 6.0.5 doesnt work for you, you can try to download other version from and re-patch and see if it works. I'm rolling the dice Adobe doesn't do that. The beta releases will allow owners of a Surface Pro X or Apple’s new M1-powered MacBook Pro. Lightroom Classic 11 is supposed to be a universal binary and contain native M1 code, but after upgrading its so slow as to be unusable. The Air, if it gets very hot, having no fan, will necessarily throttle. Lightroom Classic 11 on a new M1 Pro MacBook is so slow its unusable. The advantage of the pro over the Air is that it has better battery life and a fan. Better still get the 13 MacBook Pro (2020) with M1 and 16GB ram, if you can find it at a discounted price. We now have a Discord Server! Check it out here! Megathreads / Useful links LrC (Lightroom Classic) or Lr (Lightroom) run great on a M1 16GB MacBook Air. Hi all, Ive used Lightroom for a long time, and importing thousands of files used to take maybe a few minutes at the most (on an old 2013 MacBook Pro). As a general rule, all threads need to be about Adobe Lightroom, the Lightroom Mobile App, and within the scope of Lightroom add-ons/plugins/presets. It is worth noting that at this point, Adobe hasn't discovered any issues with running Lightroom Classic 10 under Rosetta 2 emulation, but as it is not officially supported, the user does assume non-zero risk. /r/Lightroom is currently undergoing a facelift Early adopters of the M1-powered Apple computers will have to do without official support for now.
